Strawberry Jam Recipe
Ingredients
- 1.5 kg/3 lb strawberries
- 1.5kg/3lb/6 cups sugar
- juice of ½ lemon
Preparation
1) Wash and hull the strawberries and mash a few of them. Warm the sugar in a bowl in a low oven 250° F.
2) Put the mashed and whole strawberries into a preserving pan with the lemon juice and bring to a gentle simmer.
3) Add the warmed sugar and let it dissolve slowly over a gentle heat. Then let the jam boil rapidly for 10-15 minutes, or until setting point is reached. Remove from heat.
4) Leave to stand, then stir until strawberries are well distributed throughout the jam. Put into warmed, sterilized jars and seal immediately.
